How to feed your puppy well during the first 12 months
Number of meals, portions, choosing the right kibble: our veterinarian guides you step by step for healthy, harmonious growth.
Needs very different from an adult dog's
A puppy needs two to three times more energy per kilo than an adult dog. Its kibble must be rich in high-quality protein, calcium and DHA for brain development.
How many meals a day?
- From 2 to 4 months: 4 meals a day
- From 4 to 6 months: 3 meals a day
- After 6 months: 2 meals a day
Tip: weigh the portion with a kitchen scale, measuring cups are often inaccurate.
When should you switch to adult food?
Around 12 months for small and medium breeds, between 15 and 24 months for large breeds. Make the transition over 7 days by gradually mixing the two foods.
