A pet is a 10 to 20-year commitment. Before you fall for one, take stock with our checklist.

Before adoption

1. Do I have time to take care of it every day?
2. Is my home suited to its size?
3. What is my budget for food and vet care?
4. Who will look after it during the holidays?
5. Does everyone in the family agree?

The big day

Prepare its corner (bed, bowls, toys), keep the same food as the breeder for 2 weeks and plan a visit to the vet within 8 days.
